Gorge-walking Code

Balancing recreation and conservation needs

Brecon Beacons National Park Authority has worked with other interested organisations to produce a code of conduct for groups and individuals engaged in gorge-walking.  The gorges of the Geopark and indeed the wider National Park are internationally important for their specialised habitats for a number of species and it is vital that these are not inadvertently damaged.

Forestry Commission Wales have installed a panel detailing the code at the car park at Craig-y-ddinas near Pontneddfechan (March 2011). Find out more about the Sychryd Gorge which runs past this spot.
