Fforest Fawr Geopark

Wales' First European Geopark

Geotrails

A series of leaflets is being published which will help you to get more out of Fforest Fawr Geopark. Over the next few months (from early 2009) we intend to publish over a dozen Geotrails which will introduce you to the natural and man-made landscapes of this area.

Some will be easy strolls, others will be more physically demanding.  There will be some that focus on the underlying rocks, others that look at how man has shaped the place.

The British Geological Survey, Cardiff University and Brecon Beacons National Park Authority are working together to publish this family of walks, assisted by a grant from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund for Wales.

Look out for these titles, amongst others:

      • Mynydd Illtud
      • Cribarth
      • Brecon
      • Carreg Cennen
      • Sgwd Gwladus
      • Llyn y Fan Fach
      • Henrhyd Falls
      • Mynydd Myddfai & Usk Reservoir

It is planned that the best of these walks will be brought together into a single publication which should be on sale by spring of 2010.
