Geopark Ambassadors

Fforest Fawr Geopark Ambassadors are tourism businesses passionate about the Geopark. They will help you to get beneath the skin of the Geopark by steering you towards places where you can explore, understand and enjoy it.

Every Geopark Ambassador is also a National Park Ambassador – each has attended a three day National Park training programme and an additional two day Geopark training programme. You will find that each Ambassador has a special knowledge of this unique place and an ongoing commitment to celebrating it and helping visitors too to get the most from their stay. These Ambassadors have taken time out of their business to make sure they offer outstanding information and service.

The Fforest Fawr Geopark Ambassador scheme was launched in Autumn 2012. The first seven Geopark Ambassadors were accredited in spring 2013. There are now almost 60 – they are listed below with links to their businesses. Watch out too for the growing number of Dark Skies Ambassadors – more and more Ambassadors can talk knowledgeably both about the earth below and the heavens above!

Look out for Geopark Ambassador logos on the walls, windows and websites of businesses around Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark and the wider area. There is currently one further course for businesses planned for Autumn 2016 - we aspire to have 70 Geopark Ambassadors by the end of the year. More information from Alan Bowring, Geopark Development Officer.

*Please note that whilst part of the Geopark Ambassadors’ role is to promote the understanding and enjoyment of Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark, they are not contracted to do so by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority nor by the management of Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark and, neither do their views necessarily represent or reflect those of the National Park Authority or of the management of Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark.
